Why should I join orchestra?
Orchestra is fun! But of course, it’s a lot more than just that. You should join if you are interested in the following:
Learn how to read music and also learn how to play the violin, viola, cello, and bass
Meet your Fine Arts college requirement
Perform at concerts and festivals
Field trips to Disneyland, Knott’s Berry Farm, etc.
Build confidence and gain leadership experience
Be a part of something bigger than yourself - join our orchestra family!
Can I join orchestra without any experience?
The Aliso Niguel High School Orchestra program welcomes all students regardless of skill level. If you don’t have any experience we will work with you every step of the way!
What if I don’t have my own instrument?
No problem! We have school instruments that you can loan. There is also the option to rent instruments from local music stores.
What is the monetary commitment for orchestra?
We ask all orchestra members to donate an optimal amount for the entire school year. This money is needed to support and enhance the experiences of all of our students and allow them to experience all the events planned for the school year. What is the concert attire for orchestra?
Concert Dress: Black Formal
Black Long Sleeve Dress Shirt - wrinkle free preferred so dry cleaning/ironing isn’t needed
Black dress pants - wrinkle free preferred so dry cleaning/ironing isn’t needed
Black dress belt - recommend ratchet belt for more precision and comfort
Black dress socks - over the calf preferred so your socks don’t slip over time
Black dress shoes -no athletic or casual shoes (Please make sure your shoes are comfortable!)
Brand recommendations: Ecco, Cole Haan
No black tie needed
Removed due to lack of comfort
No Suit jacket/blazer needed
Removed due to cost and high possibility of outgrowing your jacket
OR
Black long sleeve dress shirt or Black long sleeve formal top - no spaghetti straps, no low neckline, backless
Black dress pants
Black dress socks (depending on footwear)
Black dress shoes - no platforms or exceedingly high heels (Please make sure your shoes are comfortable!)
